What is Astrology?

Astrology, as a psychological language and diagnostic tool, serves as a guide toward the wholeness and transformation of the personality. Planets should be understood not as transmitters of physical forces, but as symbols representing fundamental human functions. Every birth chart is unique; each element forms part of an organic whole. Within this perspective, events are not isolated occurrences with fortunate or unfortunate consequences. Rather, they are manifestations appropriate to the evolutionary stage of one’s developmental cycles. Swiss psychoanalyst Carl Jung, who recognized astrology’s profound potential for exploring the depths of the human psyche, regarded the zodiac signs and planets as archetypal symbols of the collective unconscious.

An archetype is both subjective and objective; it shapes matter as well as the mind. The function of the birth chart is to build a bridge between inner processes and the external events that reflect them. The meaningful coincidence between inner subjective states and external events occurring simultaneously is known as synchronicity. Therefore, the psychological structure of a person about to be born parallels the planetary positions at that moment. The human psyche reflects universal consciousness; indeed, it is embedded within it. The psyche is a dynamic union of opposing forces held in balance. Like the psyche itself, the birth chart is not merely the product of external forces, but possesses an inherent tendency toward wholeness.

Thus, astrology can be understood as a tool that supports the psyche’s process of self-realization.
