Esotericism Camp

Our "Philosophy and Esotericism" camp held between 02-06 August 2022 ended today.

What is esotericism? Can it be reduced to mysticism or occultism as it first comes to mind, or is it a field that should be handled in its own right? What is the conceptual and historical relationship between esotericism as an approach, doctrine or system of doctrines concerning the nature, transmission and interpretation of knowledge and philosophy? Which philosophical texts are esoteric and why?

Under the title "Philosophy and Esotericism", we completed a one-week programme in which the answers were sought in separate lectures in which the history of philosophy, ontology, epistemology, pedagogy and hermeneutics were related to each other. In this way, we aimed to achieve clarity about the concept of esotericism, which is often used without much consideration of its historical context, origin and meanings, and to examine various uses ranging from ancient teachings to contemporary philosophy.
